Garcinia Cambogia (HCA Extract)

Metabolism & weight management

Function & benefits

The fruit rind contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA), which in laboratory studies inhibits citrate lyase, an enzyme involved in turning excess carbohydrates into fat; it may slightly support satiety, but its effect on weight in human studies is modest.

Dosage & how to use

Recommended dose500–1000 mg standardized extract (50–60% HCA)
Best time to take30–60 minutes before meals with a large glass of water
Frequency2–3 times daily

Best forms to choose

HCA extracts bound to calcium or potassium for stability, checked to be free of undeclared stimulants.

Important warnings

Not a magic solution: its effect on weight loss is modest and varies between human studies

Rare cases of liver injury have been reported; not for people with liver or kidney failure, and stop at once if you notice yellowing or dark urine

Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding

Drug interactions

It may lower blood glucose; monitor readings with diabetes medication and insulin. It may interact with cholesterol drugs (statins) and serotonergic antidepressants.
